On Thursday, we had the incredible honor of working with Andy Garcia as he recorded the narration for Voices From Cuba (Part 1.)
To hear him bring life to the the words that I wrote, with his passion and talent, was an absolute dream come true.
The recording took place at Waterman Sound in LA. Through this amazing world of modern technology, I was able to be in the room with him virtually, directing him along as we went through the script. Marilyn Morris, our Recording Engineer, did an excellent job facilitating things for us.
As a Cuban exile himself, Mr. Garcia is very passionate about Cuba and Cuban issues, and this came through in his work with us.
He was born Andrés Arturo Garcia Menéndez in Havana, Cuba. At age five, he and his family fled in exile to Miami Beach, Florida as a result of Fidel Castro's takeover of his homeland.
He has established himself as one of today's most talented and versatile actors - working in films such as The Untouchables, Oceans Eleven, and Godfather III, where he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Garcia received an Emmy nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for his starring role as the legendary Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandovol in HBO's biopic For Love of Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story.
Voices From Cuba is a feature-length documentary film that explores the turbulent migration from Cuba to the United States since Fidel Castro took control in 1959, as told through the personal stories of the exiles who lived it.
Part 1 will premiere in December, and explores the beginnings of Fidel Castro’s revolution through the Bay of Pigs Invasion, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Part 2 - Children of the Revolution - will premiere next year.
